Getting through the Noise | July 2012

There are days in my life when I’d kill to be on that island with Tom Hanks’ imaginary volleyball buddy, Wilson, from the movie “Cast Away.” Just peace and quiet, no interruptions. Time just to ponder life.

Our lives are constantly distracted. Even in serious meetings, we don’t shut off our phones… we put them on vibrate. We watch TV knowing if the phone rings we’re going to pause the TV, answer the phone, finish our call and then return to whatever we’re watching. We’re checking e-mail, tweeting, posting, reading and watching. At any given time, we might have a half dozen different sites open on our computers. How do you get through all the noise?
