For our last location of the day we wanted to feature Colorado’s colorful sunset. We chose a spot that gave us open skys and leading lines. I stuck with the 24-105 lens so I could again get a mix of wide dramatic shots along with more detailed close shots. Her beautiful features deserved to be highlighted!

I knew that mixing her royal blue gown, the red rocks and the colorful sky would be amazing. You have the very bright sky, dark canyon and the deep tones of her dress. I needed a camera with a great dynamic range and color spectrum. The Panasonic S1r did not disappoint.

I used OCF for these shots to properly light her face and bump while allowing for the deep saturated colors of the sunset. For our signature shot I positioned her where the lines of the various cliffs would lead into her and follow the flow of her gown, making sure to not have the horizon line through her neck or head. Bold posing and another expert toss gave us exactly what we were hoping for. You can see from these images SOOC that the colors are vibrant and the image has great dynamic range. This will allow for maximum editing abilities to reach our final product.

I have to tell you, I am always impressed with how fast this lens locks onto focus even in low light. The light drop off is fast and furious at sunset and I never had to worry about soft images. That is so important when I am needing to work quickly.

After getting various wide shots I finished the session with tight detailed shots. I choose to shoot at 4.0 to really make her jump off the background and keep the focus and attention on her face and shape.  Never forget to maximize your shot variety with every session. This lens makes it so easy.
