Light & Airy Photography vs Dark & Dramatic Photography

Photography styles are unique to each photographer. We all have our own unique styles of shooting, lighting, editing, etc. However, there are two clear and distinctive styles that are on opposite ends of the spectrum in my opinion.

Light and airy photography is typically known for being on the brighter side, blown out highlights in the sky, and more on the high key side of the spectrum of imagery.

Dark and dramatic photography, by contrast, (see what I did there?) is typically done with off-camera flash, much darker and moodier overall, very contrasty, and usually a low-key image.

The debate is not which one is right or wrong because in the end, it’s tied to your personal preference as an artist and that of your clients who are ultimately paying you for your style.

For this video, my goal was to challenge myself to shoot the same location, model, camera, lens, etc and create two completely different looks just by altering my lighting and style.

Hope you love the results. Let us know below which ones are your favorite.
